Tripura sets ambitious target of  Rs 1,00,000 cr GSDP by 2025

Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath has said that the state government has set an  ambitious target of  achieving a GSDP of Rs 1,00,000 crore by 2025. He pointed out that during the last six years of the BJP government, the state's GSDP had increased to Rs 80,000 crore, compared to Rs 43,715 crore before 2018. He attributed 44.35% of this growth to the agri-allied sector, with the secondary sector contributing 10% and the tertiary sector contributing 45.15%. Additionally, he mentioned that the state's per capita income has also seen an increase during this period.

Nath was speaking at programme on Friday where 59 offer letters to qualified agriculture officers were distributed at Agartala Pragna Bhavan. Addressing the gathering of newly inducted officers, the minister highlighted the state government's commitment to enhancing farmers' livelihoods, in line with the Centre's policies. He noted that various initiatives have been undertaken to boost the agriculture sector, which plays a significant role in the state's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).

He noted that drones are now being used in farming fields, with women being trained to operate them. This technology is expected to ease the workload of both women and farmers, making agricultural practices more efficient. Multiple initiatives have been launched to boost the sector and aim to double farmers' income in the state.

In his speech, Nath also mentioned that a total of 851 appointments have been made in the agriculture sector over the last six years under the current government. He urged the newly appointed officers to work diligently and with dedication to ensure a better livelihood for the farmers. The minister’s address underscored the government's ongoing efforts and commitment to strengthening the agriculture sector, thereby contributing to the overall growth and development of the state.
